For IAFF Local 2339, being a firefighter means more than responding to emergencies. It means being there for our community long after the sirens stop. That commitment is why Local 2339 is proud to support North Florida Children’s Burn Camp, Camp Amigo, an organization dedicated to giving young burn survivors an opportunity to heal, grow, and simply be kids.

Camp Amigo provides children living with the physical and emotional scars of burn injuries a safe place to be themselves, surrounded by others who understand what they have experienced. More than just a week at camp, it gives these kids an opportunity to build friendships, develop confidence, challenge themselves, and create a network of support they can carry with them throughout their lives.

The Tallahassee Professional Firefighters Foundation was established by our firefighters in 2009 with the goal of finding more ways to give back to the communities we serve. Through the Foundation, firefighters support organizations throughout Tallahassee, Leon County, and the Big Bend that make a direct and meaningful difference in people's lives.

Camp Amigo is a perfect example of that mission.

Because sometimes serving our community means more than protecting people on their worst day. Sometimes it means helping a child discover that their scars don't define them. Sometimes it means showing up, standing beside them, and reminding them that their community is behind them.
